Steve
Steve is a New England-born editor and writer with a decade of journalism and editorial expertise. While earning his MFA from New York University, he taught creative writing to NYU undergraduates, to children in New York City hospitals as a Starworks Fellow, and to high-school students through Duke University’s Talent Identification Program. He has since served in a number of editorial and writing roles, including as a fiction reviewer and fact checker at Kirkus Reviews, a ghostwriter and editor at a global executive search firm, and—his current role—a digital editor at Climbing magazine.
As a true believer in the power of narrative, Steve delights in helping writers knit together core themes within their stories, and he loves that moment when a sentence—then a paragraph, and finally a whole essay—clicks together into its ultimate form, ready to startle and delight.
Steve’s nonfiction has appeared in Adirondack Life, Climbing Magazine, and Outside Magazine, among others. His short stories have appeared in Conjunctions and Narrative Magazine, have been nominated for the 2020 PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers, and have received an honorable mention in Best American Short Stories.
Steve graduated Cum Laude from the University of Vermont, where he was a Presidential Scholar and received the Douglas A. Pinta Memorial Award for best short story. He now lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he spends every spare hour rock climbing.
