    Michael

Formerly a corporate litigator, Michael has nearly a decade of experience as a literary editor, focusing on fiction, narrative nonfiction, and poetry. He earned his MFA from New York University, where he taught Creative Writing at the undergraduate level, led the school's Emerging Writers Reading Series, and served as fiction editor of the Washington Square Review. He then spent five years on the masthead at Conjunctions, the award-winning publication headquartered at Bard College. As the journal's senior editor, he shaped pieces that later became anthologized in Best American Short Stories, Best American Essays, and Best Debut Short Stories.

In all of his editing, Michael endeavors to inhabit writers' perspectives, understanding their priorities and maintaining their unique voices on the page. Equally enthused to elevate in-progress narratives as he is to proof a near-final draft, Michael has worked with clients of all skill levels, ranging from nonprofit economic policy institutes to elementary schools. He values the open exchange of ideas between creatives, editors, and readers.

A native of New York City, Michael is now based in western Massachusetts, where he is gaining experience as a hiker and a gardener. He studied philosophy and psychology at Dartmouth and received his JD from New York University, where he was an articles editor on the NYU Annual Survey of American Law. In his spare time, he reads Supreme Court commentary and administrates what he believes is the most competitive fantasy baseball league ever devised.
