Combining over ten years of experience as an editor with over six years of experience as an educator, Elizabeth approaches teaching with the goal of empowering her students to deepen their analytical thinking and build confidence as writers, readers, researchers, and thinkers. In addition to supporting students of many ages—from middle school to post-grad and career—Elizabeth has taught writing to undergraduates at NYU and authored curricula for high school teachers. With current and former students at nearly all of Manhattan’s prestigious private institutions, she has extensive experience facilitating lasting growth in students who are engaged in NYC’s dynamic academic environment. On the collegiate and post-graduate level, Elizabeth has worked with students at Harvard, Brown, the University of Pennsylvania, NYU, and Columbia, where she has advised the framing of research proposals; provided senior thesis support; and offered comprehensive assistance with outlining, planning, and editing essays in all disciplines. Outside of her work as an educator, Elizabeth enjoys writing and contributing her editorial support to novelists, essayists, and short-form writers on a freelance basis, in addition to working on a novel of her own.

As a college essay coach, Elizabeth uses her experience as an editor, educator, and writer to help each student find the voice that makes their application stand out. At the end of the essay-writing process, Elizabeth hopes to leave her students with a greater understanding of their own power as writers—both in terms of mechanics such as structure, clarity, and flow, and in terms of the impact of their own stories. Through this collaborative style of teaching, Elizabeth strives to help students understand how to shape their personal experiences into a narrative that allows their own unique perspective to shine through.

Elizabeth holds a BA in Rhetoric and a BA in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and received Highest Honors for her thesis on the rhetoric of the EU’s debate on Turkish accession. She earned her MFA in Fiction from New York University, where she had the opportunity to work with authors such as Rick Moody, Zadie Smith, and Jonathan Safran Foer.
