Meet the Team

  • Kate

Kate has spent more than a decade in admissions and recruitment on all sides of the college admissions process. Beginning her career as a recruiting assistant within the University of North Carolina's athletic department, she then took undergraduate admission officer roles at the University of South Carolina and Stanford University, respectively, before trying her hand at graduate admissions at George Washington University. She's read thousands of applications, conducted hundreds of candidate interviews, and recruited students all over the world. Most recently, she has served as an Enrollment Expert and Director of Research Advisory Services at EAB, a company that advises universities on enrollment, student success, and more.

Having looked at college admissions from every angle, at nearly every level of selectivity, Kate now works as a college advisor helping each student—from those who are quiet leaders and eccentric artists to D1 athletes and outspoken activists—apply to both top and right-fit colleges and universities. She derives the most joy from getting to know each student as an individual, identifying key strengths and areas of opportunity, and strategically piecing together their one-of-a-kind narrative that will not only gain them admission but also help them become who they are meant to be.

Kate earned a Master of Education in Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she received both Harvard's Leadership in Education Award and Faculty Tribute Award. Her studies, which consisted of coursework at HGSE and Harvard Business School, focused primarily on how to strategically deploy a combination of capital and policy to maximize social impact. Prior to earning her Ed.M., Kate received a bachelor's in strategic communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication and a master's from the University of South Carolina. Despite an upbringing in the U.S. Army that caused her to move 11 times before she turned 18 and a career that has taken her around the country, Kate has finally settled in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband, daughter, and two rescue dogs. She still enjoys traveling, indulging in the best sushi she can find, and tackling The New York Times Best Sellers list, one fiction novel at a time.
