    David

Born and raised in eastern Carolina, David is a poet based in the Hudson River Valley. His decade of educational and editorial experience spans teaching first-grade through college-age writers and editing in the fields of contemporary literature, scientific scholarship, and university and medical school admissions.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with highest honors in English and creative writing, David received a full scholarship to earn his MFA at Hunter College, where he taught undergraduates and began working as an editorial assistant for The Threepenny Review. He has received scholarships from Middlebury’s Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and the Kenyon Review Writers’ Workshop, and he was twice awarded the Alan Dugan and Judith Shahn writing fellowship at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. His poems can be found in The Kenyon Review, Michigan Quarterly Review, Ploughshares, and elsewhere.

Whether collaborating with teen artists on publishing projects or teaming up with writers to develop and refine essays, David strives to foster creative risk-taking and authenticity. In his free time, he runs trails through the Shawangunks and Catskills and snuggles up with his two dogs, June and Arlo.
