Alyx
A writer and Korean-American adoptee, Alyx loves sharing her passion for the power of storytelling. She cares deeply about helping students refine their own stories and how best to share them with the world.
Alyx earned an A.B. from Princeton University with a concentration in Politics, writing an undergraduate thesis evaluating the effectiveness of counterterrorism policies. At Princeton, she was vice president of P-Votes, a voter registration and election education group, and coxswain for the lightweight women’s rowing team. Alyx also holds an M.F.A. from New York University in Fiction Writing, where she also designed and taught an undergraduate course in introductory fiction and poetry writing. She is currently working on her first novel.
While growing up in North Carolina, Alyx attended Durham Academy from kindergarten through twelfth grade. There, she was surrounded by skilled, empathetic teachers who developed her passion for learning into a belief that education is a life-long relationship between oneself and the world. She was also a lead dancer in a local youth ballet company, where she performed in annual productions of The Nutcracker in roles including the Sugar-Plum Fairy and the Snow Queen.
When Alyx is not reading or writing, she can be found wandering art museums, studying foreign languages, or traveling. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and cat.
